White Sun The Living Examples
White Sun The Living Examples
One day a child made a lot of noise and chewed on his food. His parents did not try to teach him, although they did not like it. Once the child chewed loudly on his food, his father, who was capricious that day, yelled at him:
“Do you know which animal makes the loudest noise when it eats?”
The child answered immediately: “Little pig!”
The father, who was angry, shouted:
“Do you know why that little pig makes so much noise when it eats?”
The child replied, “Of course I know, it’s because the big pig did not teach him!”
Children learn by listening and observing from their parents, and every word and every act of the parents is noticed and imprinted in their hearts. These impressions become the basis of their language and their behavior. Children are a reflection of their parents, and an unlucky child most likely comes from an unhappy family. A vivacious child most likely comes from a lively and lively family.
If you advise your son not to spend time in pubs, he might say, “But I saw you walking in the pub door.” If you tell your son not to play, he might say, “You play too.” If we want our children to be free from bad habits, we first have to clean ourselves up. Children can be compared with white leaves or pieces of jade. It’s up to us to draw or carve and in the words of “The Three Characters Classic” states:
“Educating a child without properly teaching it is the parents’ fault, teaching a child without being strict is a sign of the teacher’s laziness.”
Human civilization consists of three aspects: 1) What is passed on to us by our predecessors 2) What we create ourselves and 3) What we pass on to the next generation.
Teaching according to rules, regulations, good advice and other verbal forms of teaching is never as influential as what is taught by example, since man possesses a natural capacity for imitation. Good living examples are more credible and useful, and Confucius once said:
“If the conduct of a leader is fair, he does not have to give orders to make others follow him, but if his personal behavior is not fair, he can give orders, but no one will follow them.”
Children generally follow our instructions as long as they are young, but as they grow older, their respect and obedience seem to diminish alarmingly. We should not ignore this message. The next generation is getting stronger or weaker and it all depends on our teachings and living examples. Mencius said:
“If we show compassion for others, but return no affection, let us look within ourselves and test the quality of our own benevolence, if we guide others, but refuse to follow our guidance, let us think for ourselves and ours If we treat others politely and they have not responded in the same way, let us think about it ourselves and consider our own degree of respect.if our intentions are not realized, we must look for the mistake in ourselves only if the actions of a person are just, the world will turn to him with recognition and compliance. ”
If we are always ready to uphold the prevailing principles and are willing to make high demands on ourselves, we can find happiness and peace. Preaching is easy, but practicing what we preach is difficult. During the cultivation process, it is important for our heart and mouth to be one, for our words and actions to coincide and for our body and our environment to be in harmony. We need constant self-reflection, and others are our mirrors, and in an old text called “Shu” it says:
“Heaven has sent all men to testify to what is done and to listen to all that is said, the heart of men is the will of the universe, the words of men are the words of the universe.”
In every situation, be it a family affair, an institution or a nation, teaching by example is the path to harmony and unity within the social environment. The heart of the people means the desire of the majority of the people through words. In Great Learning, there is a reference to the book of poetry, which states:
“High is this mountain, Zhong Nan, with its rugged masses of rock! You are very excellent, oh great teacher Yi Yin for your position and strength, all people worship you, a lord can not afford to be circumspect, if he should . ” If he diverges only slightly from his concern for the well-being of people, he will be condemned. ”
A leader must be whiter than white. When he is high up he can easily be seen and a slight mistake can make him fall and be condemned. One hundred good things can be overshadowed by a small mistake, and people remember that mistake and see it, but forget the hundred good actions that were done. To be a good role model, you have to be a good role model.
